About the Department
Data Science is an offshoot of the Computer Science domain and its relevance and importance in solving today’s technologically complex problems has been exponentially growing. With the present high volume data and unstructured in many cases that is generated across domains, there is a strong need to train students in developing involved techniques in data analytics and derive intelligent inferences from these complex data. To cater to this demand, the CSE (Data Science) department was established in the academic year 2021-22. Presently, the department has an annual intake of 120 students. The department has highly qualified faculty from premier institutes in India. Many of the faculty have a very rich industry and R&D experience from within India and abroad. Students have an opportunity to involve in research during their UG and PG studies and this will pave the way for research-based career avenues for them. The high calibre teaching faculty and the excellent infrastructure creates a stimulating ambience for students to graduate to high quality data engineers and scientists.

Project Expo 2.0 Intra-department Project EXHIBITION–2025
Project Expo 2.0 provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas and technical projects. The exhibition highlighted creativity, problem solving abilities, and practical implementation of emerging technologies, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing among students while fostering a culture of innovation and hands-on learning.
8 hour Hackathon by Code Forge
An 8 hour Hackathon organized by Code Forge brought together enthusiastic students to collaborate, innovate, and develop creative technological solutions within a limited timeframe. The event encouraged teamwork, rapid problem solving, and hands-on coding experience, providing participants an exciting platform to transform ideas into functional prototypes.
International Webinar Chapter IV on NLP in memory layer for Agentic AI
An International Webinar - Chapter IV was conducted to explore advanced developments in Artificial Intelligence and intelligent computing systems. The session provided valuable insights into emerging trends, innovative research directions, and the evolving role of AI technologies in building more contextual, adaptive, and efficient digital solutions.

An International Webinar was conducted focusing on the growing importance of data driven decision making in modern organizations. Expert Talk - Introduction to FireBase
An informative session introduced participants to Firebase, a powerful application development platform developed by Google. The session highlighted key features such as real time databases, authentication, and cloud services, providing insights into how Firebase supports efficient development, deployment, and management of modern web and mobile applications.
Expert Talk - LocAI 'The Personal Chat Interface for Local LLMs
An interactive session introduced participants to LocAI, a personal chat interface designed for running AI models locally. The session highlighted the capabilities of LocAI and explored how locally deployed Large Language Models can provide private, efficient, and customizable AI powered interactions for development, experimentation, and real-world applications
Workshop on Break into tech with React Play
The workshop “Break into Tech with React Play” introduced students to modern front-end development using React. The visit highlighted the role of research and innovation in India’s space missions under Indian Space Research Organisation, offering students valuable exposure to real-world applications of science and technology.
